DIRECT OBSERVATION

Morphological Description

Dense clumps of bright blue ribbon-like blades emerge from open sandy flats beneath shallow water. The blades are narrow, elongated, and grouped closely together.

The scanner note “Hollow” is preserved exactly as recorded. The noted property was not independently tested during this field survey.

SUPPORTED INTERPRETATION

Ecological Context

The scanner records substantial roots, Aerobic Digestion, and a hollow structure. The field image confirms dense submerged growth, but internal structure and digestive activity were not directly observed.

The preserved evidence supports cataloguing this organism as a distinct botanical record. Broader ecological relationships remain subject to future observation.

Outstanding Botanical Questions

  • Internal structure associated with the scanner note “Hollow.”
  • Observable mechanism of Aerobic Digestion.
  • Depth and spread of the substantial root system.
  • Distribution beyond Pink Shoals.

Archive Significance

O. Clayvespae (Type A — Ribbon Grass Marine Form) establishes one authenticated unknown botanical record with a substantial root classification and Aerobic Digestion nutrient strategy within Pink Shoals. Its field imagery and preserved scanner data provide a baseline for comparison with later Ironleaf botanical records.

ARCHIVE PRESERVATION

Preservation Justification

Retained as a scanner-verified botanical record from Survey Site Beta. Preservation supports future comparison of visible morphology, scanner-reported nutrient strategies, root classifications, morphotypes, and regional distribution across Ironleaf.
